Sophie Williams is from Salt Lake City, Utah. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University, where she double-majored in Russian and European studies. During her undergraduate studies, Sophie completed internships with Memorial Historic Research Society in Moscow and ECR, an EU political party group in Brussels. Her senior thesis focused on how the Armenian genocide is memorialized on social media, where she analyzed the rhetorical messaging of Tiktoks made by Armenian users as well as Kim Kardashian’s Instagram posts. Sophie is interested in studying memory and national identity in the Post-Soviet space.
