Originally hailing from Springfield, VA, Josh Hyland graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2013 and was commissioned as an officer in submarines. At Navy, Josh earned degrees in History and Russian and completed studies abroad in Russia and Ukraine. After eight years of active duty service, he reported to Georgetown as a joint degree student at CERES and the Law Center and a Global Law Scholar. Josh’s academic and professional interests include national origin myths of the Slavic peoples, the Russian literary tradition under communism, and modern Eurasian energy industry. Josh is married to the former Kimberly Laser. They have three sons, Jack, Whitaker and Wilder. Josh enjoys history, novels, chess, and shooting sports.
