ERES Certificates
Undergraduate Certificate
Georgetown University undergraduate students from all programs are welcome to pursue the Undergraduate Certificate in Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies.ย The certificate complements an ongoing degree program and is awarded upon successful completion of the following minimum requirements:
Total of 21 credits of required coursework:
Six courses (18 credits), including:
- One sociocultural elective
- One politics elective
- One International Politics elective
- Two history electives
- One economics elective
Completion of the 3-credit interdisciplinary colloquium REES 4398
Language Study
A minimum of four semesters of intensive language study in a language of the region.ย Students may also satisfy this requirement through fluency in a language of the region.
*Undergraduate students complete the colloquium, REES 4398 in their final spring semester.ย The colloquium requirement includes completion of a research project.
To complete the certificate, students choose from a variety of courses, in consultation with the CERES Director of Academic Programs.ย Students interested in pursuing the certificate are required to complete the interest form and schedule an appointment withย Lisa Gordinier, Director of Academic Programs at lag33@georgetown.edu.ย
Graduate Certificate
Candidates for a Master’s Degree in a Georgetown University graduate program may pursue the Certificate in Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies.ย The certificate requires fifteen (15) credits that represent an interdisciplinary approach to Eurasia, Russia and Eastern Europe.ย The certificate is meant to recognize students who have completed substantial interdisciplinary coursework within the CERES program.
Students in the certificate program must also satisfy the language requirement in a language of the region.ย This includes language study through the intermediate level.ย Students may also satisfy this requirement through fluency in a language of the region.
