Maryam grew up in Brussels. She graduated from Leiden University in 2023 with a BA in International Studies, specializing in Russia and Eurasia. At Leiden, she served on the Russia and Eurasia Committee, where she organized events examining the economic legacies of the Soviet Union and their continued influence across the region. Since graduating, she has worked across public affairs consulting and the global commodities sector, focusing on sanctions, energy policy, and market risk analysis. At Georgetown, she serves as Vice President of the Energy Club, where she works to bring Eurasian perspectives into broader discussions on the energy transition, critical minerals, and crude volatility. At CERES, she hopes to deepen her understanding of how geopolitics and commercial interests shape energy systems across the region and beyond. After graduation, she plans to return to the private sector and expand her work in international markets and investment.
