Anya grew up in Ithaca, New York. In 2025 she received her Bachelors in Communication, Law, Economics, and Government and a Minor in Russian Language from American University in DC. While she was an undergraduate she pursued an internship with State Department program EducationUSA Belarus, where she mentored Belarusian college applicants, and also studied abroad in Yerevan, Armenia doing an intensive Russian immersion program. She currently works at Georgetown Law as a Faculty and Academic Support Assistant to thirteen law professors. Her academic interests include the use and impacts of media and NGOs in the post-Soviet space, democratic backsliding and populist politics in Eastern Europe, and the evolution of the judicial system since the collapse of the Soviet Union in Russia. She aspires to pursue a career in journalism and reporting focusing on Eurasia and Eastern Europe and their dynamic political landscapes.
