Originally from Lake Peekskill, NY, Greg Doty graduated from Pace University with a B.A. in history and a double minor in Russian and Middle Eastern studies. While at Pace, he received a university grant to study for 6 months in St Petersburg, Russia. During his undergraduate studies, Greg attended Army ROTC and upon graduation commissioned into the US Army as an infantry officer. He served 6 years on active duty based out of Germany with deployments to NATO support missions across Eastern Europe, the South Caucuses, and Middle East. Since leaving the military in 2023, he has worked as a humanitarian volunteer based in Eastern Ukraine. Greg speaks Russian and Polish. While at CERES he hopes to further his language abilities and study the changing relationships between former Soviet states in the South Caucasus.
