Aya Mussina

Aya Mussina is originally from Kazakhstan, but was born and lived abroad throughout her early childhood. She completed a Bachelors in History and International Relations at King’s College London, receiving a First Class for her final dissertation that explored Kazakh intellectual movements and identity during the “Revolutionary Russia” time period. She is interested in gender security, social movements, and cultural history, topics which Aya explored in university’s departmental initiatives, societies, and policymaking capacities. She aspires to further pursue academia or other pathways that include interdisciplinary research. At CERES, Aya aspires to learn more quantitative approaches to research, learn Western perspectives on the region’s history, and join a dedicated community of area studies faculty and students!
