Born in New York City and raised in Santiago, Chile, Natalia Bertuol completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, earning a Russian major, history minor, and CERES certificate, complemented by two CIEE study abroad programs in Saint Petersburg. Natalia is a member of the Dobro Slovo National Slavic Honors Society and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, and received the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics Outstanding Achievement in Russian Award and Leroy W. Greber Memorial Award from Georgetown upon graduation in May 2019. She then spent a year in Kazan as an English Teaching Assistant with the Fulbright program. Returning to New York, she worked at Kobre & Kim LLP as a legal analyst, leveraging her Russian and Spanish native proficiency to contribute to diverse casework. In October 2021 Natalia rejoined the private university in Kazan from her Fulbright post, teaching English, Spanish and Russian-Spanish translation as a Senior Lecturer, until June 2026. In this capacity, Natalia researched Latin American-Russian educational exchanges and the pedagogy of Russian as a foreign language.
As a MAERES student and recipient of the Michael Calvey scholarship and fellowship, Natalia plans to enrich her studies with the International Business Diplomacy honors certificate and aims to research Russian relations with the Global South and China. Natalia is actively involved in the wider Georgetown community, participating in the Alumni Admissions Program as an interviewer and studying to become a registered EMT through the Georgetown Emergency Medical Services class.
After graduation, Natalia hopes to apply her analytical and cross-cultural skills in the private sector, with the possibility of pursuing a PhD.
In her free time, Natalia enjoys cooking and baking, going to the gym, and doing the NYT crossword puzzle.
