Title: Russia and the New World Order: Angela Stent in Conversation with Jill Dougherty

On November 6th, the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies hosted a conversation between Dr. Angela Stent and Jill Dougherty in Riggs Library, bringing together students, faculty, alumni, and community members for a thoughtful discussion of Russia’s evolving place in the international system. The evening also honored Dr. Stent’s remarkable contributions to the study of Russia and Eurasia.

The event highlighted Dr. Stent’s two decades of leadership and teaching at CERES and underscored our commitment to carrying her legacy forward. The Angela Stent Graduate Scholarship and Fellowship Fund supports the next generation of MAERES students, and contributions of any size make a meaningful impact on their academic and professional paths.

About the Event:

Vladimir Putin insists that the post-West multipolar order has arrived. Donald Trump touts the new “America First” order. How does Russia view its place in the “post-West” world? And how has the war in Ukraine changed the Kremlin’s understanding of its international role? Angela Stent, author of Putin’s World: Russia Against the West and with the Rest and Jill Dougherty, author of My Russia: What I saw Inside The Kremlin, discussed the Kremlin’s evolving outlook on its global role.
