Since 2000, CERES has served as the home of Georgetown University’s National Resource Center (NRC) on Eastern Europe, Eurasia, and Russia through a Title VI grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. CERES’ NRC mission is to increase understanding and appreciation of the cultures and challenges of the region.  At this professional workshop, educators will learn to dye their very own pysanka in the traditional East European process, under the instruction of East European folk artists and experts, as they learn about the origins and meaning of this practice. Participants will receive teaching materials and a list of resources on the subject for the classroom, a copy of Vira Manko’s instructional and historical book The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka, and an official certificate of attendance.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Space is limited.

The workshop will be held in McShain Lounge, in McCarthy Hall, located in the Southwest Quadrangle complex. Directional signs will be posted. Click here to see a campus map. McCarthy Hall is labeled # 42.

Parking will be available free of charge in the Southwest parking garage, which is located directly under the Southwest Quadrangle complex. The entrance to the Southwest parking garage is accessible via the Canal Road entrance to Georgetown's campus, as indicated by the blue "P" in the lower, left-hand portion of the map above.
